DEVELOPING HEALTHY HABITS
As a cause-driven organization focused on strengthening community, Your Y is committed to improving the health of all youth and helping them to achieve more. By implementing Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards in our child care, afterschool and summer camp programs, we are making a difference for kids and families by helping them to develop healthy habits through education, sharing and leading by example.
We wish to thank all of our valued donors and partners for their support in ensuring that children in our community have an opportunity to learn about good nutrition and the importance of physical activity through their involvement at the Y.
NOURISHING SPIRIT, MIND AND BODY
At the Y, we believe that kids with full bellies stand the best chance of reaching their full potential. Here in Rapid City, we know that more than kids receive free or reduced cost lunches during the school year, but only have access to those meals during the summer months.
We wish to thank all of the donors and partners who work with us throughout the year to ensure that kids and families have access to healthy meals that fuel their success.
Study after study shows that kids from low-income households often start school underprepared. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and community partners, the Y is uniquely positioned to address this issue for kids in our community. Here in Rapid City, our programs are making a difference, as we work with local school districts, families and caregivers to ensure that ALL children are successful in school and life.
We wish to thank all of our valued donors and partners for their support in ensuring that children in our community are provided with opportunities for social and academic success through their involvement at the Y.
A SAFE PLACE TO BELONG
During the summer months, kids don’t always have access to safe places where they can make friends, continue learning and have fun. Thankfully, the Y provides those safe places, along with positive role models and tremendous opportunities to realize their full potential.
Our Y campers experience a number of benefits during the summer:
· They feel a sense of accomplishment by building new skills
· They stay active and healthy by playing outdoors
· They unplug from technology and build friendships that will last a lifetime
We wish to thank all of our valued donors and partners for their support in ensuring that children in our community have safe spaces and nurturing environments that help them to grow and thrive during the summer months.
Teaching children how to swim and be safe around water is one of the most important life skills that parents or caregivers can help children learn. It not only builds confidence, but it also helps to save lives. The Y’s swim programs teach water safety skills and offer swimmers the opportunity to enjoy water sports, enhance or learn new swim techniques and meet new friends.
We wish to thank all of our valued donors and partners for their support in ensuring that every person in ourcommunity has access to water safety instruction and programs, so that they can be safer in and around water.
